How to Dig Yourself (and Your Business) Out of a Downward Spiral
In my previous Tales from the web Marketing Crypt, I wrote about it being the one-year anniversary of COVID-19 hitting our world. I shared a number of my thoughts on what proportion of a strain it’s caused for many folks.

I also revealed how I used to be the victim of fraud not that way back, and the way it devastated our lives, forever changing the trajectory of what was to return.

In fact, if it wasn’t for that insidious crime, my business wouldn’t are formed. I might probably still be working within the corporate world. i’ll not have gone back to high school to earn a business degree.

Sometimes the planet we sleep in is often quite fascinating. And it also can be overwhelming, frustrating, and plain old hard, especially when it involves our business.

I’m unsure if it’s thanks to my drumming up painful memories of these crimes against us years ago, but truth be told, I even have been struggling within the week in the motivation department.

One roadblock after another keeps appearing.

I problem-solve one obstacle and another issue must be addressed.

I have things I do know I need to do but procrastination has been rearing its ugly head, causing unwanted delays.

I have many plans, ideas, and wishes, but my energy state to finish them is low.

Do you ever feel that way too?

Where you recognize you’ve got lots you would like to try to but just can’t seem to urge the motivation to try to them?

But one fire after another is draining directly causes you to feel deflated. this will ultimately end in lost leads, conversions, and sales.

Truth be told, it is a fact of life for each entrepreneur and business owner… we are getting to get into these ruts every once in a while. We’re human after all!

The good news is that this slump is often very temporary… if you select it to be.

Yes, it is your choice.

Because one thing I do know needless to say is there’s nothing anyone can say or do this will suddenly get me springing back to the action!

The only author for that’s me.

Luckily, this is often not the primary time I’ve encountered a wee little bit of lack of motivation, and that I realize it won’t be the last.

And knowing that helps greatly because it might be very easy to latch onto this funky mood and head straight into a nosedive crammed with depression.

So what do I do when this happens?

The first thing is I acknowledge it’s happening and not beat myself up over it.

Of course, I confirm everything that has got to be done, gets done. If it means pushing myself a touch to urge my urgent to-do list done, then that is what I want to try to do to remain in integrity not only with myself but with our clients and my team also.

And if that also means not getting the new initiatives I had planned done as quickly as I wanted, then so be it.

But it also means taking a touch time for self-care, self-reflection, and even self-healing if that’s needed.

What does that look like?

I thought I’d share an inventory of belongings you can explore subsequent times you are feeling this lack of motivation overwhelm you. Many of those are what I did in the week and already feel much better!

Acknowledge this sense is normal and remind yourself this too shall pass.
Open your gratitude journal and write down all of the items you’re grateful for in terms of your business. The more you specialize in the positive, the better it’ll be to shift your perspective out of the negative.
Remember your WHY. Why did you begin your business to start with? What purpose are you serving?
Revisit your business goals or get clear on them again. Goals are great motivators when aligned together with your WHY.
Surround yourself with people that will boost you up, provide encouragement and be your cheerleader. this is often one of the roles I play with my consulting clients.
Avoid watching the news and reading negativity on social media. it is the worst for reminding you of all that ails the planet.
Do something which will uplift your spirits. Whether going for a walk, bringing out your favorite hobby, or twiddling with the kids/grandkids, whatever gives you joy will get you fired up again.
Getaway for a weekend if possible. I do that every few months once I can. I really like checking into an area B&B and taking the time to recharge my batteries. I prefer to settle on B&B’s and boutique inns because it feels good that I’m also supporting small businesses.
Use the mornings to your advantage and lookout for the critical things on your to-do list then, before the load of the day starts to urge you down. Mornings are when most of the people are most efficient, so rather than scrolling through social media together with your morning coffee, specialize in the tasks at hand and skip the possible negative influence that would affect the remainder of your day.
Take care of yourself by eliminating sugar and high carbs from your diet. Get some exercise, practice Intermittent Fasting, and obtain an honest night’s sleep. I do know this is often a loaded suggestion but considerably well worth the effort. For me, my brain fog is gone, and that I feel better than I ever have ever in my life since I started eating low-carb and focusing more on my health. inspect a number of the resources below to assist.
Give yourself a private reward for doing one thing every day of the week which will help your business. Maybe that’s following up with leads, posting some value-filled posts on social media with a robust call to action to contact you, or sending out a newsletter. Whatever it’s, set a goal that comes with a gift.
Read an inspirational book. Who are the heroes in your life that have inspired you to urge into business and fulfill your purpose? Reconnect thereupon inspiration by reading abreast of them.
Read client reviews and reflect on what it had been like working thereupon client. Remember how wonderful it felt knowing what an impression you’ve had on them.
